Would you pay $15,000 for an ae101 levin?

Postby soopachargen » Sun Oct 22, 2006 11:07 am

found this ae101 levin on trademe with badly fitting front bumper, king springs, pod and exhaust, paint job, monster tacho etc

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=74324240&key=65269

The plate says Hot boxed... was this guy high when he priced his car?? Sure its nice paint... but 15k for a levin?
When in doubt, down and out.

I've currently got an ae101 gtz and an ae111 blacktop and I've owned an ae101 silvertop in the past, there is a definate noticible difference between the ae101 silvertop and the ae111 blacktop. I have friends with silvertops who agree with this after riding in my car as well.

I'm pretty sure that the ae111 is a little lighter, as well as being a little more powerful. The ae111 is roughly as quick as an ae101 gtz, although the power delivery is very different.

What is that guy thinking asking 15k for that car? I suspect it's going to take him a long time to sell at that price. He should take it to turners and ask them how much they think it's worth - that'd give him a shock.

yep you are right. thts a AE111 Bomex bumper for the pre-facelift. I have to agree...pretty bad fitting and no attempt to fill in the gaps at all..i won't pay more than 4k for it. Even my car now is probably not worth $15k....so...he must be dreaming LOL!!!!

I guess I can critique the bling in this thread :)

I would pay 1500 for it because I would need to spend another 1500 to restore the car to close to original condition.

I bet the paint job is not that great at all. The car will need ne front bumper/grill, rear bumper. interior panels etc.

Anyway I actually would not pay anything for it becuase it is not worth the hassle.

I own AE101 (trueno) witth red paint jobbe. I went through 5 exhaust systems, as in growing up and slightly deblinging it every year :). Now I got ST165 as project so I don't do anything to my AE101, except servicing and put fuel in it, it is bloody cheap on gas aswell, with my lead foot desease I get about 8.6l/100km on average, in traffic.

when you are thrashing them the BT is a little bit better.

The rest of the time the BT is a lot better.

The BT actually has some power down low.

If you had a drag race between them and both shifted at 4000rpm, I doubt the ST would be within 2 or 3 second of a BT time.

we sold our AE101 levin a couple of years back for more that that.

had no rego, and no warrant, ( like most of mr revheads cars, lol)

but it did have a RWD 1JZGTE conversion???

Don't people realize that a car is never worth anywhere near what you spent on it???

And just coz you put $10k of crap onto a $5K car,
doesn't make it worth $15k.
