It wouldnt be fun if there were non jdm cars in the privateer class, it costs too much to get a jappa to the same level of say a 911 turbo (a good street car).

But i think japans super GT is testament to japanese road cars.

Also i hope superlap doesnt turn out like that, id like to enter my car but didnt think of all the morons who would be there as you said, may not be as enjoyable as i fist thought.

Ill stick to trackdays.

I think it'll be a good event, should be some good thrills and spills.I wonder how many 'drifters' will enter the event 8)

Unfortunatly I think any type of event like this ends up with the saying

"monkey see, monkey do"

They see it on the track and they go and try it out later than night.

We get it at out events and I think the CHCH drifters are having the same problem,

The spectators i.e. general public wont enter there car in anything,
as it is too slow, to low, too fragile, or they cant afford to put petrol in it or whatever,

but have no problems doing donuts, burnouts etc etc in the carpark.

All I can say is i hope NZPC have carpark security as we now have to have it here for our events of that type, and the CHCH guys are loooking at the same.
just makes the organisation (and therefore cost to the competitor) so much more.

No wonder nothing like this ever works... With attitudes like this it surprising that anyone even gets the $&#$% out of their $&#$% beds. I mean really. What sort of $&#$% piss ant pansy $&#$% are you?

Get out there and drive. You think it's gonna be full of posers with too much bling? Then enter your ride! If they're really posers, then you've got a good chance of actually being someone and making a difference. Change the mold. Everyone makes of it what they will. Unless things go horribly wrong, I'll be there. And for those who've seen my car, it's nothing flash, or that fast.
Lets show the masses what real car enthusiast do, not what boy racers do.

Welcome to TalkSpeed. Where talk is cheap, and opinions are free...

Since everyone here is such a bunch of downers... I thought I'd up the ante a little.

I've got $100 that says...
There isn't one person here (from Toyspeed) who will turn up to Superlap in their Toyota and beat me. It's not that I have a fast car. No, I am driving a pretty much stock 4age powered ae86. Can't be hard to beat me. I'm not even that good a driver. I just have faith that people won't put their money where their mouth is.
So here's the conditions of my bet.
1) It must be a toyota. Registered and labelled a toyota, no "it's made by toyota just under a different name." If it don't say toyota, I aint paying.
2) It must be in the privateer class.
3) You've gotta be faster than me.
Sooo. The fastest TS person (providing they're faster than me) I will pay $100. All you have to do is enter, find me on the day, and race. Once the results are out, the fastest person will get my $100. That should pretty much cover the entry fee (or possibly more).

So. Easy money. Especially if my car turds itself before the event and i can't drive, or worse yet, I fail to complete a single timed lap.

I consider this binding too. So I will be forced to pay out come results day.

Oh, just to add...
I'm considering upping the bet if anyone else is willing to add to the ante...

I have to agree - why bag it? Its a formula thats worked rather well in Japan and really ought to do well here too.
What makes people think its going to be blinged out chome wheel'd no ground clearanced ricers? Cause its run by NZPC mag? Pretty poor attitude to have.
If anyone remembers the trackdays NZPC used to run back in they day, they were bloody well organised and heaps of people had fun. I fail to see how this is going to be any different.

wow you got three posts back to back there SOS.

Superlap sounds great. i predict it will be won by the guys running supergt already as their cars will be well set up. Else some of the cars running d1gp or d2 will have a good chance. Privateer and Public classes will be interesting, lots of the quicker cars will be borderline. But this doesn't really matter anyways.
Everyone taking part will have fun or a good experience at least.

there's always going to be people who boo at an event, whether it be the beloved rugby or motorsport. Who cares, as long as you're not being disrespectful on the track, go for gold I say.

Mate, just to prove i am not entirely against it, if i was in the NI, i'd put the same money on any being slower than me for the same reasons, unfortunately, i'd be stuck in the 'pro' class as the Levin has a cage, and you'd be a sad case if you were slower 8)

because NZ is full of sheep, it probably will do well

for sure, you'll get fully track tuned racecars that someone 'inadvertantly ' forgot to fit a rollcage to, but as it is their target market, i believe it will also be a showcase for shiny add-ons.
I've been a bad bad boy. I should read the rules and behave before I get spanked by an admin

Yeah, there might be a few monkeys out there that overcook it a bit, could be a lot of fun

Sounds like a challenge anyways. I'd be keen to have a go at you time SOS, but I probably won't beat it.

I think some of you are forgetting:

NZPC magazine is a buisness.

buisnesses are supposed to make money.

Superlap is a money making scheme.

Concepts such as 'fair' very rarely apply in the buisness world.

If they've come up with a buisness concept to make some money, good for them!

P.S. SOS, you dont even know if cars like mine or yours are even going to be eligable, or on what criteria they pick cars from. As there will surely be more entries than places, IMO. I'd say they'd pick the blingier cars over less blingier cars, it's in their interests to do so I think.

There are a quite a few “Performance” shops out there now; it will be interesting to see who can build a decent, all round performance street car, and will definitely sort the talkers from the tuners.

when i was last in speedtech i actually asked gina about timid. apparently they started pulling it to bits to do a big build for it and things sort of got sidetracked, i guess between that other car of theirs and churning out 10sec street evos all day they havent had time to finish it. apparently its sitting somewhere feeling sorry for itself now.
i seem to remember that it was making 340odd kw on a near standard 1600 bottom end , i cant imagine it would be very well suited to circuit racing :D

Sorry. Only one $100 "Prize". Bring one car and get the money. But you've still gotta be the fastest TS person there...

Pro doesn't put you in the Pro class.
At least not yet. At this stage the rules have the Pro class only for cars that are sponsored, or have polycarbonate/lexan screens. All privately owned cars run privateer.

Bazda. Easy $100. You should be faster than me... crikey, I'm a crap driver...

Roman V. Unless there are far too many entrants they are taking all entries.

I'm not worried about the speedtech or racepro cars. They're sponsored so they go in Pro class.

Unless the final version of the rules changes a lot. This will be fun.
