theres not much point in mounting it to the chassis is there?
if its not mounted to the diff its not going to hold the diff in lateraly which is its only function

I was probably asking more along the lines of why not have the link arms mounted to the diff nearer the shock mounts and the watts link pivot independent of the diff housing...each to their own I guess. Everyone has a theory and when it comes to suspension set up or geometry there are plenty of opinions.

My old mans rally car was setup like that, with the pivot on the diff. After shearing it off we decided to change it.
Build a tower down with different spaced holes and mount the arms to the diff. Like a V8 supercar.
