Not 100% sure, but I think they send you out another 28days notice, if you don't pay up after the 2nd warning you get in the shite...

You can delay a speeding fine for near to 6 months and only receive several late fees if you use the right excuses

apparently if its a big fine (say $600) and you send them $50, they'll post it back to you with another 28 days to pay so you can pay it in full instead.

If you don't pay within 28 days of getting the first ticket (ie. the one the cop gives you when you're actually pulled over) you get a reminder notice giving you another month to pay and there's no penalty.

They're all wrong...
It's changed now.
I only got 28 days to pay and then they slapped on another $30 (and 28 days).

If you can't pay within 28 days call them and arrange something. If you've got a good reason you can't pay within 28 days then you'll be fine. If you're just trying to save money for the big bender weekend then you'll probably have to suck it up and pay the extra $30.

why are you trying to put it off anyway? just pay it and avoid any future costs.... it won't go away (unless you're lucky) if you really can't afford it go see the district court and they'll organise a weekly payment of about $5-$10.

they wont do anything serious for six months.you may be charged $10.00 in interest though.its a good method to go by if your running out of demerit points as they are not in action till the money is recieved.this allows you six months time for your old ones to be cleared.may save you your licence.

How about don't speed, and you won't get tickets.

Easiest way to avoid the demerit points. Overpay for the fine, and when they post you back a cheque with the overpayed amount, dont bank it.

Hasn't the real story on demerits been posted around here somewhere? There are a lot of stories going around about how to dodge demerits etc which simply aren't true. If you want a proper answer ring up the phone number on your ticket and ask. In cases like this I would not rely on ANY advice you get on the internet.

Demerits are now applied straight away so paying the fine later doesn't make a difference.

Guess that will teach people that dont pay fines then aye.

I paid mine within time, not sure why anyone would try not pay as long as possible or whatever etc etc....

i would advise to just pay it now while you remember. It sucks to forget about it till just after the due date and then pointlessly have to pay the system another $30...
It's just a waste of $30... that's half a tank of gas...

Demerits are backdated to the date of the infringement, as i found out the very hard way. So they dont take effect until you pay the fine but once its paid then youre $&#$%.

Looks like he will be in jail before the 6 months is up according to the fines website.
