They just had to have metal man as sponsors,

looks sad seeing a crashed 86 with the words "metalman pays top $$$ for scrap" on the side!

You have now found one of the major problems of Targa a huge field of crews that have very little experince for a week long event .One of the reasons that Targa does not appeal to me any more.
Hope your repairs go well , as it will be cheaper than a reshell .

I agree with this, although it will not be a cheap repair I would still fix it rather then re-shelling. New rear Quarters are available or you could find a damaged car. We picked up a rear cut from 'B' pillar back for $850 2 years ago to do a similar repair. Just thinking I still have the other side which is no use to you of course!
Good luck with it.

I have these rear Quarters hanging there so if I do something similar to my car I can repair it without having to wait for parts .I think they are still avalible from Toyota ex Japan, talk to Warwick, if you need one in a hurry you can replace the one that I have here, so long as they are still avalible , I know the rear panel is there as well .
If you can't find a panelbeater that can repair it at a resonable cost then maybe you should try Hamilton as there are some cleaver guys here that dont charge by telephone numbers.
Why don't you talk to Grant as his car has been in the wars as well (front end) he maybe able to steer you in the right direction up there .

Hey nice pic of my fathers car :)

We finished in 59th over all and came 2nd in class behind a 911 so we are over the moon with this result :D

As service crew we had very little to do but put gas in the thing and occasionally top up the oil.

Car used to belong to Grant Hohaia and we bought it off him about a month before the targa.

Now it all makes sense. I spoke to grant about this car a few months ago, as i was chasing spare axles that i think went with the car. Got any spare ones ? I think i have bent one during the accident.

Naa sorry, we did have spare axles... untill we realised that both the ones in the car were bent so we replaced them before the targa.

I have heard of a guy that has mouds for fibreglass replacement panels for the AE86's if you ask around i'm sure you will find some more information.
