Postby Kahlua » Wed Nov 08, 2006 11:09 pm

Ashburton Car Club's Rutherfords Road Shingle Sprint is on this Saturday 11 November, at Rutherfords Rd, Stavely. Its an Interclub Event.

The course is approximately 3 km's long with a gravel surface, starting and finishing at the same point. The venue will be sign posted from Digby’s Bridge, just out of Ashburton on the Methven Road (Head West at McDonalds). Allow approximately 30 minutes travel from Ashburton. For Christchurch entries using Thompsons Track from Rakaia, turn right at Ashburton Forks (after crossing the North Branch of the Ashburton River) and left at the Car Club sign to follow the Ashburton Staveley Road to the venue.

Anyone else from any Car Clubs in Canterbury going?
If I say I don't need anyone
I can say these things to you
'Cause I can turn on any one
Just like I turned on you
I've got a tongue like a razor
A sweet switchblade knife
And I can do you favors
But then you'll do whatever I like

I'm considering it, it all depends on whether I can get my car back together in time though.

Hope to see you there, I'll be there, fighting physics on every corner and probably going more sideways than a FWD should be.. (I've had to change the suspension and springs purely not to make it so low and stiff, so it now has stock suspension and springs, and corners on the road like an old Fairmont, however should induce a lot of oversteer on gravel, which is better than hoofing along shingle in a FWD and coming across a lot of understeer at a corner  )

5. CLASSES:
0 to 1300cc 1301 to 1600cc 1601cc and Over Ladies
Two Wheel Drive Radial Tyres

I gather the above two wheel drive class is incorrect? Should it not be 4WD? IE can I race my Lancer GSR rally car?

Anyone want to go from CHCH in convoy?
The answer is Helmholtz!

thats ok theres only 3 corners in the whole sprint you'll need to slow down for... 1 if your car is slow enough

they are just the classes that are seperate from the open class, extra incentive for people that havent got a 4wd turbo rally car to go out and enter

decided last night i might have to take the pos FXGT (hopefully with wing :P) out for a run if i can get through scrutineering

Well, we just finished making Wayne's Corolla a bit more rally-spec, my Sentra is good to go, and spending a lot of the time just putting the Gearbox and new clutch & flywheel into the Mazda POS Autocross / Motorkhana car just so it could be moved off the driveway, which was blocking the Corolla. Again, cheers for your help all afternoon and eventing Logan :)

Also finally got a camera mount sorted, so hopefully once we have time, we'll have some video to post up. :)

So, guess we'll see those of you who are going out there.. 8)
