Average Altezza fuel consumption

Postby SpeedRacer » Thu Nov 09, 2006 7:35 pm

Hey,

to all the altezza(beams 3SGE model) drivers out the, what do you rekon your average fuel consumption is on open road driving?

Dad has one and is getting about 500kms to the tank and doesn't think its quite right, but I rekon its not too bad.

any comments welcome

How big is a tank? Around 50L? And is that open road driving or around the city driving?

I would say that's not bad at all either.

I get around 450km to a 55L tank driving around the city, or close to 800km to a tank on the open road in my 2L V6 Mitsi which has about the same power and same weight as an Altezza

In my mr2 :)

Average speed - 105kmph - Overtaking cars etc..

I got 10km to the L

Which is pretty $&#$% good :)

Altezzas should be good on petrol as long as your easy on the pedal

i get 500kms per tank around town, and 650kms on the open road. 6th gear owns for open road driving. You dont have to use much if any throttle to maintain legal speed.

Fuel tank is 60L total capacity in them.

So the tank is 60L but how much is a full tank when you go to fill up? My tank is 65L supposedly but every time I fill up I can usually only get 53~55L in there.

5th gear is 1:1 ratio in the Altezza, so sixth gear is like a normal 5th gear overdrive.

Although in my beams MR2, I must say it's quite nice to cruise in, in 5th.
when it's actually running properly that is.

How much it takes every time you fill up depends how long you run with the fuel light on for. I bet if you ran it till it stopped due to lack of fuel, it'd take pretty close to 60L to fill it up again.

It usually takes approx 50L to fill each time if i let it get down to the fuel light.

Depends which car you're comparing it to. Its quite a bit more overdrive than the 5th gear in my old Ae101 Fx (C52). Im assuming its to do with the difference in diff ratios between the two both..

We get from Auckland to Wellington in Richard's tezza on 1 tank. Just over 600km each time... 6th gear at 100km sits at 3k, so its much like 5th on most other cars...

i have just come back from a road trip so will post a few calculations for you guys

travelled 2200km over 3 weeks and spent a total of $320 on fuel returning home with over 1/4 tank. So say time travelling $300 spent on fuel. I used 98 octane as often as possible so average price $1.50 per litre.

Therefore 200 litres of fuel purchased which works out to be an average of 11 km/l

Total open road driving

Wellington - Napier 323 km
Napier - Hamilton 298 km
Hamilton - Auckland 124km
Auckland - Tauranga 201km
Tauranga - Wellington 526km

Total = 1472km open road driving

Therefore approximately 700km in stop start driving

So all in all i think i got pretty good fuel economy in the altezza

easier way to compare is to pump a full tank. Reset the speedo distance thing. The next time you go to the petrol station. Pump it full and note how much fuel it took. Then look at how many kms you travelled.(km per liter)

slightly different, but the mrs altezza has the 6cyl 2l engine, and we get approx 480km on 55L round town, highest we've got on a trip is 720km on 54L.

I would like to add that this is with me driving... with her driving we get ~25% better milage, albeit it takes us ~25% longer to get anywhere.
