Cause ALOT of tuners seem to reconmend them for some reason, brent in speedwork in PN is a prefect example.



P.s, im sure that isnt the reason, but alot of tuners do reconmend them.

Not to sure, He said if I wanted more boost Id have to go G2. It should be fairly decent, he said they are finer tuneable than the older LEMS, all firmware updates downloadable off the net.

I just have to wait for for a week or so, as the next version has the motorsport option switched on for flatshift/launch.

G2/G3 share the same microprocessor, and firmware, so yes the maps are portable between them. The G2 is the new micro on the old board. G3 is new micro, new board.

vvega - yep, if I had $3852 to spend on the M400 I would too, because I like my datalogging/analysis as much as the next guy, but given that in 99% of applications where people just want the car to drive nicely, you would not be able to tell the difference with between that and the $1350 LEM G3.

All those things you mention, telemetry, the ADL... have you seen a pricelist? Telemetry... $1658... ADL... $7800 WITH NO BACKLIGHT! Sure if money is no object mate.

And as for criticising Link for the "look" of their PC Tuning software... thats just retarded - do you rip on the M4 for being a crap ECU because it only has DOS based tuning software? Haha.

Anyway.

The LEM G3 is a genuinely solid computer from Link, that shows the promise of their new platform.

The only things that let it down are 1) only 2 injector drives 2) no external MAP so 22psi limit 3) only one digital input. But then you have to remember that NONE of these will affect driveability (that's right, not even batch fired fuel), and this is the BASE model ECU, if you have more requirements, upgrade to the LinkPlus.

Adapter looms are available too for many common cars, simplifying installation.

what the problem there ??

as for the software
i was looking at the functionality of it not how it looks
some people dont get all obsesed over bling there more interested in how it works

i think that you need to think a little more before calling someone a retard

Wasn't calling you a retard - didn't want to make it personal. Sorry if you took it that way.

All I was pointing out was countering your recommendation of the M4 ($2407 nz retail) over the LEM G3 ($1350 nz retail), which was quoting verbatim the Motec aus website.

Actually the main reason you would take the LEM G3 over the M4 would be outputs. M4 only has 5 aux outputs, 4 of which can be ignition - so if you're a 2 rotor or 4 cyl direct spark you only have 1 remaining output for fan/idle speed/boost control. The LEM has 8 aux outputs in addition to 4 ignition, so can do everything including run stepper motor idle speed.

The MoTeC is a great bit of kit (hell we sell and tune them too), I just think that the LEM G3 is better value for money and am trying to change peoples (granted, historically justified) bias against Link product.

You mean between LinkPlus G2 and LEM v5? Umm *theoretically* you can convert the numbers over to the new stuff... give Link a call on monday, I'm pretty sure they have a spreadsheet to do it.

How is the MR2 coming along? Mines still sitting awaiting a new engine... waiting...

In theroy you can change the g2 table to the same size as the lem with the same boundry changes and it should be close. The only thing you may have to play with a bit is the base fuel table number. Same thing as the master on the old lem and make sure the base timing is the same.

well the v8 has had to go on hold.but i do plan to do another
for now i just have to finish teh wiring(tring to do it today) and do axels
oh and do the coolent lines
then i should be driving
wasent after a dyno queen but with a ct20b and a link it shoudl go well enough to be a handful :D

if anyone has a decent 3sgte lem map to play with it woudl be good
i guess i,m just been lazy

prolly just go buy myself s a wideband and a knockblock and drive around for a few weeks looking like i cant afford a car stereo :D

The retail margins on Microtech won't be that high unless your an official dealer & then they are still no higher than link,haltech,motec,autronic etc. The reason people probably push microtech is it what they are familiar with & they are quick & easy to install. The downside is they are limited feature wise with regards to inputs/outputs & whilst they are laptop tuneable you still can't save the maps to disc. They do however have the injector staging & ignition split right for a rotary.

Yeah, also quick to tune (but limited as a result), pretty nasty tuning interface, what's with no "matrix mode" for ignition?? Their staging isn't that great actually, like the old Link software it can be impossible to get the AFR's steady on transition. The new Link, Motec, and PowerFC have pretty good staging.

They seem to have a reputation for being "the" rotary ECU, but people are slowly wising up to their limitations.

gee if microtech is so shit why can we run one on the jag and with the link we had nothing but problems and couldn't run enough injectors

and the several cars wiht mircotech's i've played with they all seem to work well esp the evo 512hp at the treads

the next computer i buy will and autronic because 2250 with the all the sensors and new hall effect disc is good value for what you get

and don't have to wait they are off the shelf
