is it even worth measuring up and seeing how close the gaurds/bonnet are from fitting?

not too keen on chopping and welding two cars to make one.
i think probably aim to bolt on the guards/bumper and bonnet.
probably too mcuh work.
But would be something abit different, and very close looking to the rally corolla

Maybe try going to a wrecker and seeing if they have both sets of panels that you could compare for bolt patterns etc?

might just see if i can find one out and about and measure the bonnets and gaurds etc first

was it that shape that came out with the 7afe?

as for the original post, the leading of the door could very well cause issues as one is a 3-door, while the other is 5-door. it could be possible to graft the guards in a similar fashion to my snub-nosed Levin?

Theres a photo of a FXGT, a later model one with the bug eye front, i think that was a straight fit up....
