racist WOF inspector

Postby rodimus » Mon Nov 20, 2006 11:24 pm

hey guys

one of my friends got into a nasty incident at a WOF place opposite the whaenui pools in riccarton. it involed abusive racist comments, after she was not happy with paying an extra wof fee when was only 3 days over the month. its understandable that a extra wof must be paid, but the abusive racist comments thrown at her, were totally not.
Is there anything that can be done in this type of situation, perhaps the consumer act, that sort of thing??

thanks in advance , cheers

Its against human rights act if thats what you are asking?

They should confront person who made racist comments first. If they don't want to or its really serious they can make a complaint to the Human Rights commission.

could also be worth a possible mention to LTSA, they have an 0800 number for complaints with wof inspections although i think it'd be more of a human rights case not wof inspection case. Worth considering

Is that the Hamilton Garage? They're such a shitty, pokey little garage, I used to live just down the road on Elizabeth st, but never took my cars there.

Hmm.

3 days AFTER the 28 days you're allowed to take it back for a RETEST after day initial test took place :)

i'm assuming they are meaning by "the month" the 28 days, therefore 3 days after the 28 days had expired?

To clarify things on the wof checksheet if you get failed on any item/s then you've got 28 days to get the item/s sorted and bring the vehicle back for a re-check. "Anything after that 28 day period you have to pay for and get a full warrant inspection again. Complaints should be first directed to the wof issuer."

Yup, thats the case, although in some cases we can be leniant and let it slide through, I personally let 3 days through but no more, only because most people think "Ive got "a month" to get it fixed", but its only 28 days

Yip same at our work, you can show a bit of leniency toward the person if you know they've made an effort to get all the repairs done
