flatspot after gearchanges

Postby flygt4 » Sun Nov 26, 2006 6:48 pm

i have a curious issue , just wondering if anyone has encountered anything similar. at this stage i kinda suspect its ecu related.

basically i can change gear as fast as i want, but if i change too fast when i get back on the throttle after changing gear i encounter a severe flatspot , basically like it doesnt know what it wants to do with itself. kinda hard to explain , but its felt as a momentary pause in acceleration.
if i change much slower , its not as noticable. if im really rough and hesitate on the clutch/slip it a bit going back into gear , it doesnt seem to occur.

im using a link ecu , im just curious as to whether anyone has had a similar issue before or any worthwhile suggestions as to what it may be.
is it possible its severe compressor stall or something as silly as that?
im almost convinced im going to bin the link in the near future anyway, as its limitations are starting to grate away at me. ive had the issue as long as i can remember and its about time i actually sort it out

any ideas appreciated

could be the enrich settings. does it do the same if you just stab the throttle, at same rpm? is it setup for tps or map enrich?

no if i stab the throttle quickly when in gear , itll start taking off smoothly exactly like it should. not sure what its setup for , im going in to harrass the tuner this week and see what ideas he has.

i found i could drive around it on a circuit by changing slowly thru gears , but when trying to drag race it kind of kills it having a pause after every change before it takes off again.

Mine 4agte did that....Really bad between 3th and 4th. But it did it after all gear changes, and yeah, the faster you shift the worst it was. But i assumed mine was due to my massive compressor surge (my bov did jack all..)....

I had a link 2...

Try the Transient fuel adjustment or accel setting depending on the model.
Basically the same as an accelerator pump on a carb.

how big is your intercooler piping . It maybe you are losing air speed through your pipe work if it is to big.

It might be Brad, but mine was doing the same thing with a single throttle (16v).

wheres you map signal coming from? you could be getting lag to the map sensor. if your using dampers from the quads and a long vac hose. adjusting the the enrich/accel zones should help fix that tho. long as its set for tps not map.

I've had the same flat spot with my fxgt running standard bluetop ecu and everything does same, change high up in the revs and then after changing it has a huge flat spot aswell as backfire through the pod filter. I'm thinking it's due to the nz new loom it appears i have and import ecu. Or possible fuel starvation, i've swapped distributors but does same thing. Any clues?
