Wiper problems

Postby xRyanx » Wed Nov 29, 2006 8:29 pm

Hey,

Am trying to remove my wipers off my ae111 to give them a repaint. Ive got the bolts off (front and rear) but cant get them any further than that. Im scared to give them an almighty whack coz im unsure if they should just pull off.

Are they just stuck and need a bit of force, or is there a special way to take them off?

fold it up using above method, and put a "device" between the car and part of the wiper the bolt sits on, then just lever it :)

if u be gentle, it will come off easy enough

or maybe u could just tap it with a hammer side to side

make sure you are pulling them off in the same direction of the bolt, and not on the piss. its a bit tricky due to the spring in the wiper

Dodgey... you should be able to lift the wiper up and be able to work it loose from light force applied from the further most strongest bit. where the arm is connected to the wiper itself.

as far as i can remember they are a splined tapered shaft and just need a little work cos they might have oxidised and all that.

be careful when playing around too. that spring in the bottom hinge where it bolts to the motor has ghot a fair whack in it when it lets go! :o
