when my c56 from an ae111 went into my ae92, im pretty sure the ae92 shafts and stuff were all used

i *think* that there may be one fiddly bolt at the rear near that bottom that can be a bastardo if it hasnt had the box out previously?

This could be FAQable...

Got a friend getting a AE92 and this has me thinking of gearbox options.
I'm guessing all 4AGE NA FWD (92, 101, 111)g/boxes have the same ratios, are they internally the same?
How do these compare with the GZE boxes.
Which ones had LSDs standard?

from memory C52, C52, C56, C160(? 6 speed)

As far as i am aware only the C56 has the LSD option

on the firewall build plate it will have something like C52-***C or C56-***A
C = LSD
A = Open dif

ive got no idea on GZE boxes tho

one thing to watch for
if the starters on the front (i think it is on that car) as the ae101 box has 2 starter "bumps" (looks like micky mouse ears) the rear bump can foul on the water bypass pipe that goes from the waterpump to the thermostat housing.
that stops you getting the box on.

This is the list of ratios that I compiled last year after a bit of searching on Google.
Code: Select all
               1st   2nd   3rd   4th   5th   6th   F/D
C50           3.545 1.904 1.310 0.969 0.815 ----- -----
C52           3.166 1.904 1.310 0.969 0.815 ----- -----
C56           3.166 1.904 1.392 1.031 0.815 ----- 4.312
C59           3.166 1.904 1.310 0.969 0.815 ----- -----
C60           3.166 2.050 1.481 1.166 0.916 0.725 4.529 (BZR?)
C150          3.545 1.904 1.310 0.969 0.815 ----- -----
C151          3.545 1.904 1.233 0.885 0.725 ----- -----
Quaife C/R    2.583 1.929 1.563 1.333 1.158 1.048 -----
TRD C/R       2.929 2.176 1.700 1.364 1.167 ----- 4.733

So the best difference (for me in the rally car) with the C56 is that it has a shorter 3rd, making it closer to 2nd. (My new gearbox, which is a mix & match of C56 and C60 will be even closer :D )
We know that four-wheel drive doesn't work in a racing car, and I proved to myself that it doesn't work very well for rallycross. I'm absolutely convinced that it has no future in rallying, either, even if the regulations allowed it. - Roger Clark (rallying legend), circa 1976

So many different options... I had no idea...

Good work on the ratios.
That C151 would make a nice street box for a SC engine (except the need to replace the first ratio with something a little shorter(??), the TRD C/R first would be good...) But I digress...

Nicked from the other thread....
5 speed:
C150 3.166/1.904/1.310/0.969/0.725/R3.250 - EP82 (S), EL43, EL44, EL53, EL54
C152 3.166/1.904/1.310/0.969/0.815/R3.250 - EL43 (FHE), EL44 (FHE), EP91 (NA)
C50 3.545/1.904/1.310/0.969/0.815/R3.250 - AE100, AE110, AE101 (4A-FE)
C52 3.166/1.904/1.310/0.969/0.815/R3.250 - EP82 (turbo), AE92 - AE101 previous term, AE111 (4A-FE)
C56 3.166/1.904/1.392/1.031/0.815/R3.250 - AE101 latter-term - AE111 previous term, EP91 (turbo)

6 speed:
C160 3.214/2.050/1.481/1.166/0.916/0.725/R3.250 - AE101 (Serret/Mali last & touring wagon), first stage of AE111 latter term, AT210
C60 3.214/2.050/1.481/1.166/0.916/0.725/R3.250 - AE111 latter term

And we have:
C***-***C for LSD
C***-***A for open

Warwick went on to say that the applications could be wrong, but seemed okay...
Then there's the E series boxes used with the GZEs.

Well i got what i think is a AE101 box in the rolla.

Only real differences that i noticed and fixed were the speedo cable, shifter cable brackets (dont think that needed doing and the fork pivot was bigger diameter on the ball top bit (which i didnt change)

Shafts fitted but i think the ends were machined/cut off to make them shorter, shouldnt the ends be beveled to fit in easier?

hmmm....
