Intercooler plumbing setup 1jz.. 2jz...

Postby trd-drifting » Mon Dec 11, 2006 9:24 am

Just curious intercooler wise a 2jz-gte and 1jz-gte look rather simillar in pics as i have never compared them in real life but would you think if i got an intercooler plumbing kit specificly for a mkiv supra would it fit an mkiii supra with a 1jz in it. Just it a lot easier to get a mkiv intercooler kit than a jza70 one as i want it now lol. I can make my own but i dont have access to a tig until after christmas if worst comes to worst... would you have any ideas...
Some problems might be that the 1jz is longer like the front half sits further foward on the mounts etc.. as is is a bigger displacment motor which will affect the piping. Also depending how the plumbing goes in front of the bumper. Just hoping some one might be able to shed some light on this from me.

Any one wouldnt have some 1j bits lying around im after a coil/spark plug cover and a few other things..

Kind regards

Yes... the plumbing kit from a MKIV would need to be modified to fit. It was made for a different motor to fit into a different chassis...

Piping is a hell of alot different.

piping kits can be found overseas. but it probably works out cheaper to get a set made up here. Who knows if you make a few sets there will prob be a few willing buyers
