place/person to get cheap automotive equipment i.e jacks?

Postby regamaster » Wed Dec 13, 2006 7:38 pm

hey all,

just wondering if there is anyone out there who

a. Can get a good deal on jacks, jack stands and related equipment along those lines, or

b. knows of a shop/factory that sells jacks, jack stands and related equipment for a good price.

Looking hopefully to purchase some jackstands 2tonne or 3tonne, although pref 3tonne if its cheap enough, and also a 3 tonne, low profile trolley jack this christmas at a good price if possible.
any help would be great :)

can't go past the $30 warehouse jacks if you just need a crappy little one to change wheels.

yes you can. the nasty little things are too narrow and this can lead to them twisting under load, then failing. i personally won't buy another.

just buy something decent and it will last you a lifetime

cheap is bad, why bother with it for something as important as axle stands and a jack!! Last thing you want is a car falling on you cos you saved 50 bucks

macdonalds machinery in mtwellington,

great guys, great service, great gear
they have a lot of second hand machinery in there as well but have some great axle stands, the 3 ton ones, have stood up to our boat being stood on for about 3 years no problem what so ever,

the trolley jacks are just as good, you have to make sure you get the little knob set right on them tho other wise they just keep going down

hope that helps can get you a number if need be
Nothing to see here ...

Na, dont buy a Warehouse one. I brought one, 2 Weeks ago so i could swap my wheels over easily and it doesnt work anymore. Maybe ok for occasional use though.

Mine's worked for a few months so far and it's a lot easier taking to events than my normal size trolly jack. The normal (big) jack is really hard to transport safely. But like fangsport said, they are very narrow, so best used on a solid flat surface, like concrete.
