Drag masters Sat 6th Jan.

Postby Crampy » Fri Jan 05, 2007 5:17 pm

Anyone heading off to Drag Masters 2 tomorrow.
Gates are open at 9am and should be a good day.

Anyone keen on racing, the track prep should be good and the track temp right for some good traction. I'd say much better than Night Speed Drag Wars, although the air temp will be much hotter.

You don't have to do 7s to race at Drag Masters.
I think they are also doing fixed index racing for the street cars, so good to see how you go against cars of similar ET. Sort of like DYO racing.

Sweet, well it was a good day.
Not many imports turned up (useless $hits!!!)
My mate got a personal best in his N/A CRX of 12.73. He said it was the best prepped track he's been on in ages, so if you didn't bother turning up, you missed out.
He even broke a drive shaft on the last run hehehe, that brings his tally to 6 now

It's a 1985 CRX. Had a 1300 in it when he bought it. Chucked his nuts motor from his EF civic in it. B18C block, B16A head. Crazy pistons (12.5:1 compression) and some crane cams, cam wheels yadda yadda yadda.
Oh yeah, he's got Blacktop Toyota throttle bodies on it too, so it's sort of from the Toyota family (well not really)

Got 200 horse at wheels, but it's also damn light. We can lift the back off the ground by lifting the rear guards.

The unofficial final score was something like 30-26 or something like that.
V8s taking the win, but the imports did give them a damn good run for their money.

Good to see the diff holding up today dude. Saw you pop two diffs, I think it was, at the last Night Speed drag wars.

i was out there, fully sweet day. i left after the 2nd round of drag masters because i had a family bbq i had to go to but before i left it seemed about even.

was all good cause i went out there with a couple of V8 mates and after last year i was just expecting them to be giving me stick the whole time. saw some insane passes by the doorslammers, 6 second passes by 2 different cars. what an experience to watch. i'm glad i made the effort and it was good to see a few toyota's doing well too.

that crx cracked me up, it just looked like it had no chance up agains't the camaro's it was running with and then peeling off 12 second passes. good to watch too.

that crash was pretty scary, i only caught the first half second before people's heads got in the way and it looked pretty bad.

i really feel for the V8 guy that got taken out through no fault of his own, i guess thats just racing some days though.

some cool demo's from Mad Mike and a driftcorp 180sx too, and burnouts from a pink and black silvia and one of the ford V8's. made for something to watch when there were stoppages on the track.

anyway, had a mean day, fully glad i went and recommend it to everyone for next year.

cheers
Matt

Yeah the red twin turbo V8 one. I love that car, but it had a bit of a biff on the wall. I'm sure they'll be able to fix it up and have it running well again.

Dale Buckley's Mk IV. As above, twin turbo Lexus. Dale had minor injuries compared to the guy in the Chev coupe he tagged. They said that although he (Chev driver) looked fine, he said he felt dizzy and nauseous so they were going to take him to the hospital as a precaution. His helmet had split open when the car rolled.....
