bought it with the cam, timing is set to no more than 8 degress btdc. cant remember exactly what, pretty sure it's on 0degrees though.
Ae92typeX wrote:could be the starter rooted also. You say you replaced- did you replace for a reco'd one, or just another old one? Have you tried running it out of the engine?
it was another old one. nah, haven't tried running it out of the engine. spose that wouldn't of been a bad idea

now it seems though i popped it so will try that with a new one
crispy'86 wrote:how did ya check your earths?? Best thing would be strip back some insulation and inspect the wire strands close to battery and earth points, ya just never know and check starter off engine aswell, bet the bushes have gone in the ends of the starter
pretty cheap checking, see if they were tight

. they were fine with the 4k? that never showed any of these signs, ran perfect (starting to wish i had left it in)
fangsport wrote:is it a fresh motor and you say it has a 'cam' in it?. are you running double valve springs? if so, they could be causing strain on the rotating parts and the inner springs shouldn't be fitted until the motor is bedded in.
are you using sidedraughts? are they using mechanical or electric fuel pump?
no, not a fresh motor. not running double valve springs that i know of. nope, no sidedrafts, just a standard carb
it seems everyone is pointing to bad earthing so will check every earth properly by stripping insulation back. but why would they $$% out now when they were good with the 4k?
chicken fillet and bacon with everything except onion and bbq, ranch and southwest sauces
