'97 Toyota cavalier

Postby FXGTV » Thu Jan 25, 2007 12:42 pm

i think ive spelt it right...someone at work just picked up a tidy 97 Cavalier, with a 2.4 ltr engine. Im at a loss as to exactly what engine it is though. Its an auto if that helps. Tried to find engine codes, but i couldnt match them up with anything on the 'all you ever needed to know about toyota engine' site.

Any help would be appreciated.

There's nothing good about it. My sister had one, spent more time in the workshop than on the road, mostly electrical/ECU problems.

In short they are a dog, and one that should be put out of it's (and everyone else's) misery

parts cost, no wait, they COST. most are ex japan and they are a major PITA to work on, so labour is rather high. try 12 hours for a waterpump

I need new flange....

But from my experience (working at car yard) they are total shit - even worse then golfs. They fall apart just by being parked in one place.
BTW the windscreen on those is megabucks. So the water pump.
They are awfull to drive and interior looks like made by canadian mule (out of canadian beaver).
