changing speedo reader from mech. - electronic (its stuck)

have a spare e51 gearbox and am changing over the mechanical one for my electronic one.

I took this


out of this (shiny blue bits )


then i took this


out of this


now there is that base part stuck on the mechanical one, it appears it needs to go to put the electronic one in, best as i can figure.
anyone had this issue before and can save me some time?

it looks like the base of the mechanical one should screw or pull out ,so i see shiny blue bits on that box too but tis stuck tight

That drive should just come out, tap the lug lightley with a hammer to spin it and break the seal, then should be just a matter of prying with equal pressure on opposite sides with a couple of screwdrivers.

cheers man that was the clue i needed, it required quite a bit more than a light tap had to bash it round and round in circles working in some wd40 until eventually it was loose enough than i could bash it outwards

it seems that everything i touch turns to brown smelly stuff on me
