My mates gotta True VR4 Turbo all modded...
He broke it errm... Running? from a certain... People?
The Car can get into gear but makes noises getting into gear not a crunch or a grind though
The car drives a few meters but locks up and if u drop the clutch with decent revs it doesnt launch just rolls for a few meters then locks up...
Is this the Gearbox or the Diff(s)??

Hes crazy.. got a heavy foot and was driving home from work without a licence (lost it coz of demerits) and is getting it back soon and didnt wanna postpone it Lol... Hes got a 89 GSR, Libero with a GSR Transplant 2 x 88 Turbo VR4s and just brought a Familia GTX

Just thought sumone on TS mighta had some general knowledge on the big picture

and thanks for that I thought it wud have been the Diff too considering it doesnt grind or crunch and it does make an effort to move

lol actualy thats why mitsi evo gearboxes have double sycros and strong selector forks there probably one of the stronger of the 4wd turbo gearboxes

anyway it cant be the transfer case if its making noises just shifting gears the bearings might have colapsed my old vr4 was making some funk noises when i lunched a gearbox like that started locking up around corners that was after 4 months of racing at nitewars 6000rpm launches and i had an evo3 gearbox already

but sorry to say sounds like your mate has more dolars than sence :roll:

How come every man & his dog who owns an Evo has rebuilt the gearbox, and generally more than once?

Because in general evos get alot harder life than any other 4wd turbo.Every 2nd car is an evo at night speed.

Mitsi gearbox's are usually the smoother, stronger boxes around.

Because they get luanched 100 times a year, do that in a subaru and you will be having 25 gearbox builds a year

I bent a selector fork on my old 101, straightened it out again tho not to much of a worry really. Was quite hard to get into 4th unless i was racing then it didn't really stand a chance of not going in :twisted:
