Best place to get your flywheel lightened?

Hey I'm in Tauranga and I want to get my flywheel lightened but I wouldn't have a clue where to go around here.

Anyone had any good experiences at certain places?

Also would anyone recommend going aftermarket (i.e. Jun lightened flywheel) over getting stock one lightened? And how light would I be best to go if i'm running a mildy moded (cams, 20valve ITB's, extractors etc),smallport redtop?

Lightening a flywheel is bad news. Get one that is properly designed and made lightweight.

Lightening one can compromise its structural integrity, making it dangerous and could make it shatter under a lot of force. Its been discussed here quite a few times.

It is possible to lighten standard flywheels safely. The mass on a flywheel is not there for integrity, it's there for momentum.
The problem of course, is when people lighten already stressed/fractured flywheels, or lighten them stupidly. You really need to find someone with experience in flywheels for your particular engine.

yes it is possible to lighten them safely. But it depends on what flywheel you're starting off. I've never seen anyone try and lighten a silvertop or blacktop flywheel as there isnt much you can trim out without compromising strength.

I used for a long time a bluetop flywheel which belonged to fxgt_race before me, and was lightened and balanced with its pressure plate by Lynn Rogers. It now looks much like a smaller diameter version of the blacktop/silvertop one.

Best bang for buck is to get a blacktop one, weigh way less than all the the other 4age models.
