Air Con Light Blinking

Postby solitaire » Wed Nov 15, 2006 2:53 pm

Anyone know if the aircon light blinking on a AE92 Levin is a generic error or pointing to something specific?

Only does it on "AC" not on "ECON"

Mine started doing that when it was out of gas, so i just pulled the air con out of the car.

Not out of gas but it's when there is a problem with the pump.

There is a pressure pulse or speed sensor in there and if the pump doesnt pump enough it will click out and go into fault mode.

The light will come on for a few sec's then the clutch clicks out and the light flashes?

Meaning a faulty compressor or magnetic clutch matt?

normally.

or the speed sensor is unplugged or damaged wiring to it.

Belt slip can also cause it.

Yeah, my GT4 does it too... no noises or seizing of the pump, but apparently the bearings can go in them in which they continue spinning but stop compressing. Common with the compressors too, and theyre an odball compressor on a GT4, so i hope the levin is a common one. a Second had GT4 one costs $200 plus about $500 for the work, gas, consumables etc to fit it.

Anyone know of someone who can do it cheaper?

Old cars will generally be expensive to refill, because afaik they have to change the gas with a different kind (R134 instead of R12? They might use a new one now)
