Replacing timing belt?

hey guys just need some help , i noticed that 1 of my belts has been repaired and stiched up 8O and wanted to replace it to be on the safe side of things the motors a 5afe and the blt,it goes on the timing pulley ,alternator and the water pump i think and was wondering if id b able to do it myself , is it very hard? or do i needa take it to a mechanic?

Judging from your post I'd recommend taking it in to your mechanic to get the Cam Belt replaced.

While you are at it get them to replace the water pump and all your tensioners as well. (This is if it is indeed your cam pulley.)

If it's just the drive belts then it's a piece of piss. There should be a tensioner which you'll be able to hold back to relieve the tension from belt to remove it. Do the same thing again to put new belt on...

oh ok well the belt drives the alternator timing pulley and the water pump , if its easier to understand theres three belts and its the one in the middle, sorry for my lack of knowledge :oops:

By timing pulley do you mean the crank pulley at the bottom?
So that the crank drives the alternator and waterpump...

yea thats the one sorry :oops: is that easy to replace coz i got some mates who will prob know how to but just wanted to know if it was alrite to replace myself??

it sounds like your talking about the alternator belt not the timeing belt to me

if you can normaly see the belt its not timeing this will be under a cover

the alternator belt is normaly about a 5min job if you know what your doing
The faster you go the quicker you get there

Yeah nothing to do with timing, take the old belt off put the new belt on and make sure it tensioned, and you're done
