Postby blackmk3 » Mon Feb 12, 2007 9:49 pm

Im going to remove the charcoal canister in my 89 MA70 and im just wondering now if im going to need to buy a vented fuel cap? ive heard of them buy never seen anything for sale...
Ive thaught about drilling a small hole in the standard cap but id rather not do that unless i have to

What do you people do when you remove you charcoal canisters?

Well im making a custom intake, a front facing one for the 7M-GTE and im not using the stock throttle body so therefor cant use the origional port the charcoal canister connects to, and it cleans up the engine bay

Can i not just block up the vent hole to the tank and get some sort of vented fuel cap so that air can be sucked in to equalise pressure in the fuel tank but cant evaporate out?

Thanks

All you need is a to put a vent (like the ones below) in place of the charcoal canister it has to vent to the out side of the car not under or in the engine bay there are a few different types around, some have ball bearings in them in case the car gets inverted etc... and have a flash aresster built into them

Alot of boat shops have them or at least can get them in for you, there have been a few on tradeMe but none at the moment.... some performance places have them but can be quite expensive.
