certing bonnets

Postby bluemaumau » Wed Feb 14, 2007 10:57 pm

ok so ive decided to get a cert when i get my car going again, and was just wondering if anybodys been thru anything like this before.

my bonnet is a standard ae101 corolla bonnet, which i have cut a 20cm x 30cm (approx) hole into and bolted a scoop to this and bogged in the bastard in.

im guessing as most shit needs certing now this will, so does anybody know if this will pass, or do i need to trawll thru endless amounts of BS on lvvta?

im hoping

local KE30 (or the likes) has a plain hole cut out (at a guess 20cm x 20cm) of the bonnet where the turbo sat, so i'm sure you should be able to get yours thru without too much BS :)

it just occured to me that i'm not 100% they had it certed.... so hmmm ring a local cert person

I think it comes under external projections.
My bonnet scoop was under external projections on my cert plate

If the scoop is secure you'll have no problems.

hardener+ bog = secure

cheers all,

my main thought was that when i cut the hole i obviously have to cut thru the crumple reinforcing thingies, (the metal underneath your bonnet that looks like a big net)

For example in this pic you definatly cant cut the parts that form an "A" shape under the bonnet - big fat lines, but you can get away with the smaller ones on both sides if you have to, I wouldnt be too keen on hacking any part up like that, but thats just me lol

Sorry bout the size, maybe someone can photoshop the lines on the pic and make em red or something, since I dont have any thing on this pc at work lol

Had panelbeaters do it, they cut a hole and bolted the sccop on, as its a scoop from a AE92 GTZ, which a just bolted on. And they painted the bonnet.

hahahahahahaahaha all good. Just be careful that you dont park the car with the scoop into the rain, it fills the sparkplug valley up with water and the car runs crap lol
