for a pratical answer, its a hard one. Some tow companies will take a car without wheels, others wont, so thats a first thing to try. any gates you can keep locked up?

Nah no gates, the easiest and quickest thing I think is going to be take the struts off the front and do something to the back, I've only got about and hour to do it tomorrow.

Its not a very exciting story, just a dispute between a person who doesn't seem to like other people having unregistered cars on their land and me. He lives down the road and has taken an exception to me owning 6 cars so he rang up a local firm who tow cars for scrap for free and has asked them to move one of my cars I am wrecking for parts for one of my 6 road legal cars.

The reason I can't be there is because I don't know when they are coming and I work about 100kms from home and live at work because I don't want to drive 200kms to get to and from work each day.

The police can't deal with the matter because the car is unregistered so I've had to resort to my own means.

This has nothing to do with registration. If some one takes (unlawfuly) something off your property is theft (and trespassing).

Thats what I said. They disagreed as the event hasn't happened yet they can't do a thing.

I just had an idea. Is there anyway to jam the brakes on by playing with the master cylinder? This should keep them occupied for a while until they find out theres more stopping the car.

its also theft if he takes it off your property or you could spray paint a nice mesage to the towy on the car if the car gets towed they will be prosucted for theft because the old geezer doesnt own this car and put a pic of yourself in the window and lock it up

Put a sign on it " Please leave me alone!"

and put ur belonging in your car like... TV, Bed, computer... etc, and sure them down, chain them etc... take a picture of it too, so if the car is gone, report it to the police that someone stole ur stuff......

Can you pop into local scrap firm and tell them it is theft if they touch it and you will press charges if they remove it.

leave a letter for the tow truck driver, stating the regos on hold, and if he attempts to remove the vehicle, a neighbour will immediately report a theft in progress.....

if i was a tow truck driver, i couldnt be assed with the cops, considering i prolly wouldnt even have my ht... so id let it slide

Like sergei said rego has nothing to do with it. No towing company is going to go onto private property to remove a car that belongs to you. The law is very clear about this.

Seconded. There must be more to it, if some guy thinks he can remove a car from someone elses' property then he must have a damn good reason other than "taking exception" to you owning 6 cars.. what did you do? Skids in his driveway? No, he can't come onto YOUR property to take YOUR car, that IS theft.. I think hes' either calling your bluff, or you've done something to bring this about. Aren't the cars at your parents' place? What do they think?

But seriously, if you're legit and in the right, I would ring the police first of all, and tell them what the deal is, see what options they can give you.. then ring the scrap yard and tell them you've contacted the police and WILL press charges if your cars are touched.

yeah, what DID you do to get this guy "hatin on yo ass"

the police would have to deal with it if it got towed from your property, or maybe you're in one of those real backwards places where they don't care at all...
