EP92 Glanza V - Things to check.

Postby MikeMan » Wed Feb 28, 2007 10:44 am

Hi all

I am looking for a new car and thinking about a Glanza V Starlet.

Two questions...

1. Anything I should watch out for in this model?

2. How can I tell if it has a factory LSD?

First, you're looking at a EP91 :P

You can check trans codes all day long for the lsd, but someone couldnt taken it out, or put one it.

Jack the front of the car and and turn one of the wheels forward, if the other wheels turns the same way its lsd.

Or if you're lazy, pull up on the side of the road, passenger side wheel on the grass, drivers wheel on the road, give it some gas and see if the drivers wheels spins as well.

Jack the car to be sure.

Things I would watch for

Turbo condition
Engine condition - these engines aren't 4ages, they don't like revs all day long
CV's - clickity click
Just general car check stuff

those turbo glanzas had a viscous LSD.
NOT an easy thing to change them.
so check the trans code as the above method wont work for a viscous
can tell by looking at the l/h diff housing, LSD = extended housing out that side

Ct9's dont like revs. Stick a decent turbo on them and they love to rev.

Thanks guys

So if the CT9 sucks what is the reasonable replacement, considering I will not be doing much to it, maybe an exhaust and cold air, MAYBE a front mount.

If your not wanting to go crazy with the mods, then just get the standard turbo highflowed, and get the die grinder out and open up the restrictive part of the stock manifold.

OK so a CT9 thats been highflowed should be able to handle minor mods. Cool as thanks dude.
