4agze aircon removal options.

Postby tex » Sun Feb 25, 2007 10:47 pm

Did a search and could not find a proper answer.

AE92. 4AGZE. Uses a silly heavy bracket to mounthe PS/aircon and alternator. On that bracket the PS pump is driven off the secondary belt off the aircon pump.

Anyway the car is getting converted to turbo eventaullym but for the interim i need to mount the alt and the ps pump up, but the aircon i have is way too big to fit on the bracket.

Want to ditch the dam aircon anyway cos it sooo heaby and so is the bracket.

I tried using a ps bracket from a 20v and spacing out the pump but then that leave no room for an alternator on the front either (aw11 4azge alt bracket).

What have other ppl used for mounting the PS pump on the exhaust side and what pump did they use??? Was thinking just using a ae101 bracket and pump...?

Still doesn't solve the alt issue but least half way there.

I've got a bracket that I've cut some of the metal out of to lighten it up. The A/C is removed and the P/S has a modified pulley so everything runs off one belt. Worked well, but now it's been ditched as I've gone to an N/A Alt and P/S set-up.

yes i too wanted to get rid of the pump and was too going turbo in the future.

I ended up waiting til i had the money for turbo and switched to NA 4age alt, ps pump etc. Its easy, if your gona go down the turbo path you'd prolly need an NA plenum if its in an FWD car otherwise it'll be custom and it'll free up alot of space for manifold/turbo/ehaust clearances.

I'd suggest to just find the right A/C pump as no one really wants em once converting to turbo and use the NA 4age pulley setup once you decide to go turbo as its easy to find parts for and all you really need to make is a PS pump tensioner.Else go all out now and get the setup the turbo, lots more fun I reckon

But its up to you mate

on mine weve removed the aircon pump and put the alternator on the intake side, welded another pully on the outside of the powerstering pully so its inline with the crank pully. cut the bracket 2 suit, n had 2 modify the p/s line[img][/img]

I have some AW11 GZE brackets from a conversion a while ago.

For the right price I could dig through my boxes of brackets and stuff and find them.
