Postby bluemaumau » Tue Mar 06, 2007 11:35 pm

ok well i tried a different ecu in my car, and it lost its high idle.

i then cracked both ecus underbellys open to compare

my one had two coppery (burnt-like) solders which im guessing are the culprits'.

is there anywere that can fix look into this problem? can they even do that with toyota ecu's

Anyone that can solder should be capable, but it may pay to find someone who specialises in ECU repairs like Robinson Instruments

I can have a look for you here on base if you want dude. I'm out a Whenuapai Air Base. I had my ECU cook a couple of resistors once and got that fixed. Got them replaced with some MIL Spec resistors (expensive) hehehe. We've got good solder gear and good ESD proof work stations.
Let me know anyway.

leaky(electrolityc) capacitors is the main cause of death (by natural causes) of any electronics.

Dry joints would give caps a run for their money....especially with lead free solder

Flick it over my way and I'll have a look at it. I might even be able to fix it so you have a spare one.

Ha, sweet no worries.

You don't seem to be having much luck with your car, I hope you do get it going.
I'd hate to guess what sort of problems I'm going to run into once I get my FXGT going with the turbo conversion :(
