Cleaning stuff

Postby AE82 FXGT » Fri Mar 16, 2007 11:17 pm

Hey all,

I'm in the process of doing my cambelt, waterpump crank oil seal etc
and noticed that my alternator is caked in oil/dirt deposits.
Whats the best way to clean this stuff off?
I thought of bathing it in degreaser but figured that would wreck the bearings in it. Should I just take a wire wheel/brush to it. Anyone got better ideas?

ive degresed (sprayed on, not dropped in), or scrubbed with a toothbrush diped in degreser, or with a brush and thinners. Wiped off/hosed off. All my alts still 100%
wire wheel brush good for a final polish up, but would be pretty messy to begin with.
Cant believe im still a member here.
