link tuning in auckland

Postby levinguy » Sun Mar 25, 2007 10:04 pm

have searched but havn't found anything

recently brought a fairly radical 4age that requires an aftermarket computer

found a cheapish 2nd hand link plus i might buy to run it

my questions are
- where in auckland do you guys reccomend to go? especially experienced 4age tuners

- how much can i expect to pay for the tune

thanks

Ensure the link plus has the subboard for your trigger set. The bigports and have one trigger set and the 20 valves and the smallport have another. Replacement of the sub-board requires sending the unit back to link with about a $300 cheque (was last time I did it anyway, some years ago)
Cost of tuning will depend on the tuner and the amount of time it spends on the dyno. Generally around the $500 mark for a base tune.
If the engine has had a link installed before you could always transpose the map (or a portion of it, depending on version) to your new Link.
The answer is Helmholtz!

Bob Homewood(HiTech Motorsport in Pukekohe), Edgells, Turbo Vehicles wouldbe some of those I'd choos, there are others. There are plenty I'd stay steer clear of, especially in Auckland as I've had to fix a few peoples cockups. Don't go on price alone, go with whoever you feel happiest with & hopefully some one who has some experience on simialr ecu's/cars & if possible go for a ride/drive in a car they've tuned or go with someone that has tuned someone you know's car. If all else fails ask Link who they recommend in Auckland, I've got a pretty good idea who it'll be as I know who sorts out heaps of their problems. If your still stuck let me know & I can ask a few people I know that don't really advertise much if they'd be keen.
