Anyone know HEAPS about the Apexi RSM?

Postby KiwiMR2 » Sat Mar 24, 2007 11:18 am

Hey guys

Have one in the Libero.....everything seems to be pretty much accurate until I get around the 100 kph mark, at that stage the speed reading jumps around between 92 & 105...isn't constant like it normally is below 90 kph, the revs seem to be out by about 200 at that speed as well where as below 90 it is spot on with what i see on the dials.

Anyone have any idea why? Pretty sure my setting are correct but in saying that the manual isn't the greatest and doesn't really get specific.

Cheers

My guess is that it could be a poor connection somewhere that vibrates when you get to a certain rpm/speed.

I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!

Also i belive the 200rpm difference could be a result of where and how your mesuring, Think about it the RSM is directly coming off the ECU but the Tacho will read from the coil? Or at least so i belive so my understanding is that the ECU is more accurate as it uses the RPM quite possibly to help detirming fueling etc for the Map, Tacho how ever serves no purpose in running the car other than showing you " approx " where you are for hill starts etc i guess.

RPM wise the apexi will be right if your feeding it via the dizzy/cam/crank sensor over the dash thats runing off the coil

Yeah that makes sense.....annoying how it reads perfect under 90kph but speed jumps about over 90kph though, still all else works so I can live with it :)
