V9 ECU?

Postby Levin » Sun Apr 15, 2007 9:54 pm

My friend just bought himself a 93 WRX, I've only seen it a few times, but from what I've seen it's had a fair few mods. I opened the glove box today to find a computer serial connection. So i traced the ribbon back to the ECU and found that it is a "V9" ECU. Anyone know anything about these or where I can get the software for it?

What does the ribbon cable look like?? Look anything like the old Link hand controller ribbon cable???? If it's still in the standard case with a hole cut in the case & looks like an old link ribbon cable then it could be an early plug-in link. Though generally they'll have a sticker somewhere on the board stating what it is unless someone has removed it for some reason or another. Perhaps post up a pic of the cable/ecu if you can.

Thanks for the help. If you go to http://Tom-TB-.bebo.com and look under the photo's section, go to the album named random and you'll see a couple of pictures. I don't think its the factory ECU because the car is running 16psi, would the stock ECU have maps for boost that high?

Thanks, Tom

yes later model Subaru turbo's are mapped and do run that higher boost as standard.

That is definatly a standard ECU case and numbers/sticker on it.

Post a picture of the non-ecu end of the ribbon cable for a better idea.

May have a link plugin in it as they just go inside the standard ECU box.

Yep I'd say a PossumLink Plug-in, from the looks of that ribbon cable. They are a replacement board that fits inside the stock ECU case.

Cheers

Thanks for the help. The other end of the ribbon looks just like a serial port on a computer. Anyone know what software I need to have a fiddle? Also what kind of things will this allow me to do?
