Link tuned for gze 365cc injectors, now fitting 510cc evo's:

Postby ~SlideWays~ » Fri Apr 20, 2007 10:21 am

I've done a bit of a search and it looks like they are both low impedance, would that mean the I can just swap the plugs over and it should fuel ok... ie enough for it to run and check things before getting it tuned?

The reason I ask is because my old man had some 510cc evo injectors installed in his 1800 (BP**?) mx5 which orginally had a link ecu tuned to suit the standard injectors which I think were high impedance, when the 510's were installed a resistor pack (well thats what I think it is) was wired in.

Is this because of the impedance difference? Will I need to do the same thing or just swap the plugs and go from there?

Cheers muchly.

If you already have low impedance injectors and a link you should already have ballast resistor installed. so it would just be as simple as swapping injectors.

if the current injectors are high impedance and the new ones are low you will need to install ballast resistors

Why do you need to run either hi/imp or low/imp injectors with resistors when using a link? would too much current flow back into the e.c.u cause damage, Im guessing thats the reason??

Is this the same for all aftermarket e.c.u's or just link's?? just as a matter of interest....

Yes too much current & it fries the injector drives. Link is working to enable either hi or low impedance injectors without ballasts. A lot of aftermarket ecu's are the same but not all. I would suggest double checking the impedance of the injectors you have & the ones you intend to put in as even though there are hi & low impedance injectors there is at times a variance in impedance & if your ballasts are borderline you may do some damage, better to be safe than sorry & double a quick double check.
