My 20 valve did it awsomely on the track! on corners leaving large clouds of smoke right on apex.

Reson? i had far too much oil in the sump, and pulling huge deacceleration revs. Blue smoke when got back on gas.

Cure? drain oil, (needed changing) fill to correct level and clean plenum of lake of oil sitting on the bottom of it. Its a task that is quite frequently needed as oil likes to collect in the plenum. Judging by oil markings on intake pipe id say its from the rocker cover breather that plumbs into the side of it.

Internal wind created by 4 pistons moving at 8000+ is pritty ferce...

OK Sorry to go slightly off topic here but i couldnt help ask a quick question since paul brought this up. Im having the same problem when pulling deacceleration revs (not huge ones though just every day driving). Then back on the gas i get a puff of blue smoke. Would that most likely be oil sucked into the intake by the cam cover or valve stem seales pulling in oil under vaccum?? engine only done 106xxxkms

I think I have found the reason for the problem.

Compression test September 2006
1 - 13.25bar 2 - 13.25bar 3 - 13.75bar 4 - 13.5bar

Compression test April 2007
1 - 12.5bar 2 - 12.75bar 3 - 13.75bar 4 - 6bar

Engine poked. Will pull it out and recondition it... again.

Throw engine out.

Replace with silvertop.

;)

I picked up almost 10kmh on every straight at Manfield just going from the stock big port to the stock silvertop. Even with the "interesting" tyres I was running that day.

Fuel economy around town went out the window though ... not that it is likely to concern you.

Pc's bluetop makes more ponies than a slivertop anyway 8)

Bugger Pete, guess it wasn't exactly driven like a nana though
