had an issue with declared value at work.
guy comes in for insurance valuation on KE30.very tidy, good wheels, just needed the primer painted out , so we reckon $3.5K.
car gets pinched and stripped leaving only the shell and insurance company refuse to accept valuation and are willing to pay out their 'market value' of $1000,less excess. after much heated exchanges between car owner and insurance company, they finally seen the light and accepted the fact that the car could have been insured for a higher replacement cost had it been mint.
the silly thing with older cars is that the likes of classic Fords / Holdens/ Chevs etc, they have no issue with declared value, but cannot appreciate the fact that some of the older Jap cars are actually worth something
