!!!!MEGAMEET 2007!!!! 20-22 October - Manfeild CONFIRMED!!

Postby Dell'Orto » Wed Apr 25, 2007 1:17 pm

Seeing as how its a mere 6 months til the event, I figured I'd put up a post now to give you all plenty of time.
Tentatively planned for Palmerston North, making it reasonably central for most north islanders, and not too far to mission for any southerners.
I'm in the process of lining up a paddock for a grasskhana...and potentially even Manfeild :D (will require a bit of work to get it though).
For those of you who dont know, it's traditionally held on Labour weekend...which I think is the 19th til the 21st this year.

Please feel free to give ideas/advice/help to make sure this year's meet is awesome :D

I'll start saving now, $40 in the tin, nearly enough

What will be potential options for accomodation?

ppl attending universitys or even schools, exams are around this time, ppl are likely to be studying/stressing out, so going away isnt really a option

never had that problem before :? manfield would be awesome to incorporate. would be good as i'd be in wanganui for that time and after all, palmy isn't that far away. maybe daytona as well? could get costly though.

Bah, what is wrong with you people and exams.... Its a weekend...

Further more, a holiday weekend. Never hurt me...

And as for accomdation, im sure if you guys want to sleep on a floor/couch/pass out pissed somewhere they are a few houses around. Mine included. Otherwise I guess the mods in charge might have a idea for us all to stay together.

Manfeild would be awesome, as would a grass bash.

Man I reckon a mega-meet is a great idea and I think Manfield would be the place..Man you could split the day in 1/2 do Drag racing on the back straight in the morning open the 3 km track for some laps in the afternoon organise something else on the extension bit man you could do something really big and have the space to do it potientially there could be 100s of cars so it could be realtively cheap to run.. :D

Great Idea.....

Man...

:P

Good luck if you get 100 cars to turn up to toyota megameet and go to track day. Would have to open it up to everyone, maybe even talk to honda boys and get them interested?

And I vote no drag racing...Make it a track day all day, like Chelles awesome days. Learn far far far more than how to launch a day.

Sounds fun :)

palmy north = toyota NZ headquarters too , so they might be curious to see what goes on for some support ..

I wonder if we can get 3 of the 4 remaining NZ new WRC group A St205's to attend on the day - or some other NZ historically important toyotas ..

In Auatralia they run 2 such events - the Toyota nationals , and toyofest which are always super events ..

One has drags on the second day at a 1/8 track , the other is purely a huge show and shine ..

A track day would be sweet though - its more suited to my vehicle rather than drags

The MR2 should be well and truly ready this time

And to anyone whos having doubts about it........Don't. I went to the one in chch in 2004 knowing 3 people. went away knowing a heap more. The weekend was a blast, Nothing beats hanging out with a group of like minded people.
And 2005 in Auckland is a weekend that'l be with me for the rest of my life. Never gonna forget any of it. Mostly a good thing,....... mostly..... :?

Sorry to those who have exams - but this is a Toyspeed tradition, the date (Labour weekend, I could be wrong with exact dates) wont be changing.
It is a long weekend though, and even if you can only make it down/up for the Saturday, it'd be a darn sight more fun than studying :P
I'll start hunting around for bulk accomodation this week as well.

Megameet is great, and you should all go if you can.

I've been to the first three, and they just keep getting better each year.

Give us a yell if you want some help mr brad

yes.. megameet is a fantastic event
but the ppl make it what it is.

the more that front up and attend, the better it is.

so, if you can, be there.

if you cant..... tough luck! but there will be next year!

this is also the perfect chance for ppl to show some real support for toyspeed. are you a forum browser? or a member 8)

OK... we need to hire a 20 seater bus and deck it out with study desks so that during the cruise and on the way to various events everyone with impending exams can attend MEGAMEET without compromising their academic endeavours.
I've been to the Welly megameet, Christchurch megameet, (a small part of) Auckland megameet, The Taranaki micromeet (awesome laughs) ad hope to attend the Palmy megameet.

I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!
