Ok, I doubt you have enough money to make it a worthwhile conversion.
Unless you're planning on stripping it out, caging it, and pretty much making it a track only car, theres no point.
Torque comes on late compare to the 2JZ, and the JZA80 has a lot to move...
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

Ha - don't worry about Adamal's positive spin too much...
There have been some very successful 3sgte powered supras racing in Japan in the past. Going the 4 cylinder 2 litre way worked to their advantage due to rules and/or car balance.
Just so we can help you, please answer a couple of questions.
Are you wanting a race, street, show car?
Do you have a 3sgte lying around doing nothing or will you have to build one up?
The motor currently in the JZA80 is... Dead, NA, Heavy, Boring?

Basic requirements to put 3sgte into JZA80:
- JZA80
- 3sgte, loom and factory/aftermarket computer (depends if there is room for factory distributor against the firewall)
- Manual gearbox (i presume?) with suitable bellhousing
- custom exhaust manifold so turbo doesn't hit the rwd starter motor position.
- custom engine mounts
- custom cooling pipes/hoses/radiator?
- custom driveshaft
- intercooler and piping
- skill to do most or all of the above yourself OR
- loads of $

Hope this sort of helps to guide you.

I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!

aren't the 3sgte's in the jza80's in japan race only engines, and had a SHITLOAD of money spent on them? i'd say the amount of money for someone to make a 3sgte outperform a 2jz in the supra would be a lot! you'd loose a lot of torque from the lower capacity, and the amount of boost you'd have to run to get the power up to reasonable you'd have to do a serious build on the 3s. just doens't seem worth the hassle in a semi/street car. spend half as much on a good turbo/i/c setup on the 2j and you'll hit 500hp easy, don't see that happening on a 3s quickly/cheaply.

as pointed out the "3sgt" was used in the supras in the super gt series in japan for reasons of weight.

it wasnt a 3sgte as found in sw20s etc.

so unless your trying to make a supra fit into a 2 ltr class then it really isnt the best option

you need to spend a LOT on weight reduction and HP chasing....
