I learned to drive in a mixture of heavy machinery, my first clutch depress was in a Dodge truck. Where I had to get out of the seat and stand on it.
My first car was a 1981(I think) KP60 bugeye with the vernerable 2k just squeezed under its bonnet. It also had a full body kit and mags. I was a total 80's "New Romantic" TWAT.
The answer is Helmholtz!

Haha - memories!

Mine was a 1980 Mitsi Mirage, cost $92 (was $100 but found coins and a tape measure that I still have till this day under the seat) Me and Malcolm picked it up and drove it home on (I think) learners licences. Bald tires etc - it was great. Then I got another two of these 1.3L beasties - neither of which actually went - one ended up in the tip and the other one got pushed off a bank cut up and then went to the tip.

Sometime around here I also adopted a Nissan Sunny 1981 RWD and did some skids and lent it to a mate and never saw it again (apparently his dad got pissed that he did skids in a paddock so crushed and burried it with a digger!)

Then got another one - but a 1600 version and held a burnout comp at my house and beat the crap out of it and then took it to the tip.

Then I got another one and it went for a while - like a year and a bit but oil came out the air intake when I parked on a slope - it was awesome - I put 14" galant wheels on the back only and it was like a dune buggy. The mud flaps scraped on the ground when we loaded up - once with 8 people from north shore to out west.

After that was boring mostly (in order) - 1991 Legacy VZ POS, 1992 ST183, 1990 ST185, 1989 ST185, 1989 ST185, 1992 ST185RC, 1992 ST185RC, KE70 wagon, 1987 ST165, 1993 ST205

1980 KP60 Bugeye, with a mighty 2K. :)

Here I am, 48 cars later.. and I've owned another few KP60/61s along the way! I loved that car, even bought it back at one stage, but by then I'd been introduced to turbocharging, and well, it now sits in a wreckers' yard. :)

Auntie was moving to Auzzie, so she gave me this car (van).
(i was 16 by the way).
Auto, dual sunroof, and parking sensors (despite the large size it was damn easy to parralel park). Sold the car about 5 months later, and bought me a ae92 fxgt (what i have now).

Awesome fun this van, could really haul, and haul everyone in it.
