just wondering if anyone knows how to set it back to the factory setting? screw it all the way in then out a few times? how many is a few in that case?

mmm, boost said it might be an air leak though (the idle jumps up and down 100rpm and is backfiring a little bit)
that's at 1000rpm, if i turn it down to 800rpm it jumps around even more

acetylene or ethor are good for finding vacuum leaks. If you partially choke it with your hand and the revs even out, is normally a good sign a vac leak is present.
you can set idle mixtures with a vac gauge, screw right in and turn out until it wont pull any more vacuum or the revs dont improve further, but 1 1/2 turns out is normally ok as a base setting.
