electroplating engine parts

Looking at getting some engine bits and pieces electroplating.

has anyone had this done?

pros? cons?

i know i cant get alluminium or alloy done, but still can get alot of brackets etc done.

pretty cheap too.

You can get alloy done, just not alluminium :lol:

thats right, you cant plate anything that has aluminium in it. the cleaning process just eats the $&#$% out of it.... quite cool really.

yeah, i realised this, thats why i mentioned that i couldnt get alloy or alluminium done.

maybe pyro sniper needs a reading class :roll:

Maybe he is refering to alloy that isnt a type containing aluminium.

Alloy:
An alloy is a homogeneous mixture of two or more elements, at least one of which is a metal, and where the resulting material has metallic properties. The resulting metallic substance usually has different properties (sometimes significantly different) from those of its components.

You can't get aluminium chromed without using some dangerous chemicals like hydroflouric acid. However you can get it nickel plated using an electroless nickel plating solution ;)

where can you get it done pretty cheap ? i would be keen to get some engine bits and pieces done too
