personaly the only bits im intersted in doing like that is drags & dino mainley for the reason as id hate to have a we oops so to speak & end up hitting/getting hit on the track in my car but maby thats just me

i have been talking about hiring a track, but at this stage its looking unlikely.

Its more likely to be a sealed motorkahna rather than a grasskahna so will be the next best thing.

We will keep it in mind however.

Matt are you still thinking of doing Queens birthday if you are you will find that it will be hard to even do a 12sec run as the strip will be very slippery.

Mine is in a nice safe alarmed and insured warehouse. I think thats alot better than sitting on my driveway rusting with the possibility of getting stolen! And hey, at least I still have it!

Been talking to Kevin Boyd about the drags.
If we make it street tyres only (will look into DOT approved, but i cant see why not) that way most people will be in the 12s or slower bracket so no need for fire and ambulance crew.

So if we get 40 plus cars, we should be able to keep cost down to about $35 per car

Dyno will need to be confirmed closer to the time, but id say will be around $40-$60

there are a couple of other events in the pipe line which i will let people know of once more progress has been made.

A few people are wanting a full on track day type event, we simply cant accomodate this at the moment, but will look at organising a seperate supra track day for taupo or puke for another time.

We will probably run a pack like the first suprafest which included a hat, number plate surround etc, what do you think about this and what would you like to see included?

Any other comments or queries are welcome.

If someone was to run DOT approved and break into mid/high 11s what is going to happen in that situation? Will the driver be disallowed from racing any further or just told to slow down etc?

Just something to consider as well as it is a possibility with some of the Supras/Soarers out there...

at that time of year with the lower track temps i think it would be hard.
But i guess that will need to be discussed.

If someone knowing goes to get an 11 it will be different to say someone who has no idea about what they are going to get and then get an 11.

But yeah, as mentioned people will be doin pretty well to get low 12s let alone 11s

Mate,

Forget the exercise of running the event cheaply put all the measures you deem proper regardless of the cost get medical people there get the good timing gear.Make sure of peoples safety before you think of lowering costs.End of the day by having these things in place you cover your a**e.I mean people will pay extra for the extra things like proper timing and medical people so don't short cut have all your bases covered trust me you'll still get the numbers..

Fix the date to somthing dry!!

i am not "fixing" the date

The date was chosen as its a long weekend for everyone (normally auckland anniversary weekend if i remember correctly)

It was also chosen at its a whole year away which gives all the supra owners a decent chance of fixing bhgs, run bearings and all those other problems they may have.

The whole reason for this suprafest is to get the ball rolling again and make it an annual event like its supposed to be.

I have had plenty of good feedback and alot of people keen to make it to suprafest.

If you are wanting more events to happen, you are better off supporting the ones that people try to organise for you.

IF its too wet for drags there will be some back up events. But this is going ahead rain or shine.

And wasnt the last summer we had very wet anyway? You can have some very nice weather in June...

All I'll say to that is the date will cause quite a few people (anyone with a >250-300+wkw car) to not bother with the drags. What is the point of doing it in the rainy season (track is wet rain or not due to low dew point and cold temps)? I was sliding sideways down the strip with my JZA80 in the dry let alone the wet!

Change the date to a few months earlier (if a public holiday is required then do easter or anzac!!) or later if you need time to fix your busted engine issues (labour day or around then).
