Clutch Alignment

Postby Boosted_162 » Tue Jun 12, 2007 1:14 am

Im currently doing my mates clutch (a bloody holden barina, what a nice mate i am!) Its all done, bar i can't get the $&#$% spline into the clutch, cos i can't align it! (i cant get in there to make it straight by eye, holden designed them badly).

So i want a clutch alignment tool (i thought it would come in handy on future projects). Where can i get one and how much?

use a suitably sized tube socket on an extension... Never had an issue with that method.

Theres a Quinton Hazell one available from Repco for like $20 or something. Its basically a brass rod with some plastic washers
ABW and Powerbuilt also make them, but they're a bit more expensive. Probably worthwhile if you're gonna be doing more clutches in the long run though.

The problem im having, is cos of the shitty placement of the swaybar, i cant get the box right out from under the car, so i cant line it up by sight, and with a rachet i cant seem to get it straight hence why a tool would be easier.

Ill go to repco tomorrow and take a look, cheers Brad.

how much is holding the swaybar on? shouldnt be more then a 10min job to take off.
but, as above with repco, or the correct size dowel/broom handle.
I made one on a lathe years ago.

Theres 2 brackets up front, and it bolts through the suspension arm. I took the front brackets off so it could move down. Can't really be bothered taking it right off, im doing this as a freebie for my mate (i don't know why) so wanna make it as easy as possible.

Im thinking i might just leave it up to him! I have to travel all the way from silverdale to devonport to do it for him!
