Angus McFarlane owns it now... but his son George is racing it.
They had it on the dyno a couple of days ago, put out 560hp at the rears on 16psi, was making 2000nm of torque at 12psi and shutting down the dyno initially.
They have spend a bucket load of $$$ on it since they brought it, just had a fully forged, ported n polished block dropped in it.

Whats the story behind it? I know it was originally built down in Dunners and then came up here and a guy in rangiora owned it I think and he was using it for drifting.

How many engine have they destroyed since they bought it?

Al least two engine's at ruapuna enduro weekend,
Not too much of a wonder. they told up that it had only been tuned to 12 psi or so, but was too slow so they put a 20psi spring in the wastegate and tried to run it, and when it overheated, they removed the intercooler and run a straight peice of alloy pipe in it's place??

Not bad considering it never finished the first lap of the race.
The guy who originally built it always said that it would be quicker than the levin we run, but to this date have never had the pace or the reliability.

Most event's it has entered people have bet on how many laps it will do untill it blows up.

I do hope that they do get it sorted as when it was built it did have the best of everything in it, and if they get the problems sorted out it should be a quick car.

Yeah they have destroyed two engines to date.
They were both due to the ecu I think, they have also blown two microtechs on it.

It has just been retuned on thurs and friday up to 16psi on the dhc dyno with a new link plus all wired it, and they just dropped a block worth about 10-12k into it.

Georges old man races a GT3 in the endro series with him.

Didnt hear about that intercooler and the overheating bit, and I know george ran 18psi down the back straight, but I wasnt aware it was because they tried to put 20psi into it.

It will be a real fast car once its done, I know they have probably spent at least the purchase price on the car again on it since they have brought it.

The amount of money that has been spent on that car all up by everyone,
you could buy a GT3.

Next club day down here is 8th July. Would be good to see it there.

Its running up in auckland this weekend.
Just spoke to george, he doesnt know where that intercooler story came from but they did run 22psi for a couple of laps when it was tuned for 10psi lol.
Should do some seriously quick laps up there this weekend if it goes.
They are putting a bigger turbo on it soon aswell, out goes the T66 haha!

Why?

we make 510hp at 18psi without any head work or cams etc, just a standard engine with turbo's and ECU,
where as that car has had 1/2 the value of my house spent on the head.

Until I see a piece of paper with the numbers on it its hearsay.560 HP is a very big number for that boost level. Now I've seen numbers like these out of the U.S but there Dyno's read a little on the high side like that number there just seems a little on the high side.. 8O
