engine bay paint......

just doing some foward planning here.......before i put the engine into the ke20, ill have to paint the engine bay, but before i paint the engine bay, will i have to put the engine in to see how much firewall etc needs to be cut out?

What, you want to know what paint to use? Is this for the blue one? If so it has plasticote sandable primer then plasticote black satin on it. That stuffs good up to 110 degrees C

i painted my engine bay before i put my engine in and now because of all the fiddling a reinstalling of parts and crap there is alot of dings and scratches on the new paint, so my advise is get everything fitted and working before you think of painting. then take the engine out and final paint. do this if your after a show room finish but if its just to cover some old paint and crap then take a can in each hand, close your eyes and go nuts,

or cover the new paint with some plastic film to protect from scratching

also you'll want a 2pac paint for the bay because its harder wearing and lasts longer. for best results its all in the prep work

nah im not asking what paint to use, what im asking is.........will i have to get the engine in to the bay to measure up what to cut?

yeah im thinking ill have to go all out and put everything in and then take it all out again. its guna have pretty mint paint because i work at a paint and panel shop, so i want everything to be close to perfect

just put the mounts on the engine and measure from bolt to top of engine, how tall it is, then transfer that to the engine bay measuring from the bolt hole on the xmember mount, taking away 1-2 cm for rubber squash and whala where the engine sits, i think thats what your asking for
