hey all, i know this is a toyota forum but i couldnt get skylinesdownunder forum to work so i thought id try here.
Ive just got hold of a c33 laurel with a rb20e, the oil is really sludgy so im gonna change, just wanna know what grade i should use and also mineral vs synthetic, ive heard of RB's chewing thru synthetic oil but not too sure on this.
any help appreciated

All the RBs I've owned, I've never had a major issue with synthetic oil usage, thats' with RB20e, DE, DET etc.
It's only an RB20E anyway mate, just slap whatever you want in it, I've always been a fan of GTX 20W-50 myself, makes it nice and quiet while still giving good pressure at any temp, whereas they tend to be a little rattlier when cold with anything thinner. Besides, you shouldn't be spending $$ on oil, you should be saving for a DET conversion!

derrrty ol rb20e's love runnin with bit of 10 year old sludge, plus bit of diesel oil, plus crc oil flush (turps) for 20,000+kms
