Rod weights

Im wanting to know the difference in rod weights between the aftermarket rods whether it being crower, porter, eagle or whatever to the ae92 gze rods and how they affect the revyness of the engine. Are the aftermarket ones alot lighter letting the engine rev out more? Im going to be running ae92 rods in my blacktop turbo. I had been told if i use these rods i wont really be able to rev my engine out very far because of the wieght of the rods. Is this true?

The bigport GZE's redline at 7500, so they can't be all that bad

lighter rods wil help the engine rev a little faster...
but i doubt very much youl be able to tell the differenve!

the main advantage over the aftermarket rods is strength.

having said that...... only the blacktop rods are of dubious strength. and many ppl have made LOTS of power at upwards of 7500 rpm on stock rods.

so when choosing rods, as with most parts.... whats the intended use?

sorry, wasnt meaning you specificly, more of advice to others reading the thread. think about the use it will get when choosing parts.

ie if you intend to run 400 at 9000 rpm, go aftermarket...
but if 300 at 7000 or so is yout goal, stock 4age pre BT will do

Oh yeah ok i was just worried the ae92 gze rods were gonna be abit heavy and wont be able to rev it out to say 8200.

but i recomend some shotpeening etc

balancing the bottom end is another place you should be looking
