Nice work! The only thing I would have changed is the ceramic on the clutch. It's just not useable around town, and you'll be replacing flywheel/cover every year as the ceramic pucks chew them away. In my experience anyway. Others will probably differ.

Cheers. About the clutch, good thing i dont live in auckland then huh? hehe na i know that clutch might be a bit hard on the surfaces, part of the reason i got a chromoly flywheel, so it can be resurfaced a few times no prob, and the pressure plate can be also. It isnt actually too harsh anyway, pretty streetable

Gene,

Whats next are you still after a small single setup I think you did mention that the last time I saw you at Taupo????

Nice work to with the conversion I have always thought of doing a manual conversion but really getting the parts and with not the no how and mechanical experience I just never did get there.

What are you going to use your car for fast streeter or is it back to the dragstrip or maybe a little track action or all of the above????

Again nice work....... 8)

No I won't be there and I'm gutted as I no a few GTR's are coming down from Auckland. But Dave will be there with his Supra and the Superlap winning Evo 8 will be there also so there are sure to be some fireworks and some quick Subies as well I think they got that proper A1 configured track also so I expect sub 1.50 for the really quick cars.

Have a good day..... :D

Cheers Coryn :)... yea im slowly putting together the single turbo gear, nearly there actually, but im in no hurry, and kinda interested in how far i can push these stockers. The car's main purpose is to stay a street car, with the ability to be reliable at the dragstrip or circuit if i feel like it. I just want to make sure it never spends too much time in the garage, its gotta stay nice and streetable so that i can go away in it if i want to. Once its single turbo, ill look at sorting some big brakes out for it - though the little brakes actually seem to perform quite a bit better without the auto box. If you want more info about the conversion Coryn, just let me know aye. I just slowly got all the bits together then got stuck in once i had it all - really isnt much to it if you're patient.

fallen303, its Matt right? (sorry if not - my memory sux). The 23rd's another monday, bugger, will see but i probably wont be able to come down and say g'day, mondays are usually a pretty busy day for me. Have fun anyway :)

nah it's john :) dads names murray, we bought your 17's off your mk4 2 or 3 years back, and he talks to you quite a bit on the mk4 list i think. bummer you guys won't be there, looks like i'd better make sure the mk3's going then and fly the supra flag with dave, haha! hopefully dads getting me some semi slicks to use, so that should be fun! brakes are working now too, so i won't be braking from 150+m out!

Gene what turbo are you looking at?????I think you mentioned a GT35 last time I saw you.

Are you aware of the setup on the Amuse Supra which in my own personal opinion is the best turbo setup for a fast street/drag/circuit Supra.I hear you when you say streetable and usable power I reckon the ideal is about 100 hp more than BPU mods.So if you can get in that 500-550 HP range you won't need any more than that also torque no more than 450-470 ft/lbs after that its really hard for even a good suspension setup to hold the torque.

When you need brakes I'll get them for you for the good price..I might even be selling my fronts early next year for cheaper than cheap.

Im trying to convince a friend to sell me his new ball bearing GT3540 , dont think it will respond too well on his RB20 lol.

I definitely agree with ya about roughly 550hp being about right for an all round supra - this is roughly where im aiming, possibly a little bit more but only once i've got the supporting fuel mods of course - I want to get about 300rwkw/500crank hp out of the stock(ish) fuel/ecu with the single turbo at first at around 15-17psi.

I know what you mean though, you can only use so much power, even in a supra... not there yet tho :)

let me know if you do decide to sell your brakes on, pretty sure i'll be interested - what are you thinking of replacing them with?

ooooH you better be @ MegaMeet this year, I've been waiting ages to punch the guy who bought my R154!!!

I'm doing the same at the moment with the single conversion, just getting bits and will get stuck in to it after I have everything. Already have all the fueling bits sitting here.

Just turbo and ecu to go and then work can begin... woo woooo!!

I'm thinking of replacing the Supra 4-pots with the TRD Monoblock 4-pots.

I thought as 35/40 was where you were going my thinking with that turbo it will be pretty similiar to the T-66 in the way it spools and the power and torque you will make.

With regards to power my friend Daves Supra with the T-66 factory ECU and bigger injectors has done 500 odd HP but you have to plumb quite a bit of boost into it to get that number.I think he ran 26 psi to get that number. But if your worried about the boost he also runs 34 psi at Manfield on avgas with no worries,I think that really says it all about the 2JZ's strength as he to is still on stock internals and bottom end.

500hp is nothing on a 2JZ bottom end.
And you can make 500hp without running that high boost, just tune it right and get an efficient turbo.

...Sounds like yours is on track anyway huh, good to hear, you sticking with the 1j block or 2j?

Coryn, bet those brakes will be nice! - lemme know when it happens anyway, im def gonna want some more stopping power at some stage.

Yeah man getting the power is not the problem its being able to use it which is the challange.I think by being to greedy and going for to much you over power the suspension and thus instead of being able to drive the car quickly you end up fighting it and thats where I believe the problem lies.

Also yes you are right with a correctly tuned ECU 500 HP will not be a problem but if your still running the factory ECU I think you'll find you'll have to throw a bit of boost at it.

very true, we found i was only about 3-4secs faster in my mk3 over dads mk4, even though i had a good 100kw on him! difference was in dads car, even being auto, i was staying on the power a lot more than in my car, as every time i tried putting the foot down in mine anywhere near something resembling a corner, it would step out :( really gotta do something about that...

Thats really difference between NA and Turbo as the NA's power curve will be very linear where as the sequential turbo setup with elevated boost will give you that hit when both turbo's come online.I've tried the put your foot in it but I now wait a little until the rear end is basically straight before putting the foot down the only problem there is to keep cornering speeds up I try to go in a little hotter. What I have done to try and improve rear grip is lower the rear end to its lowest setting with these TRD shocks I have and find the widest set of tyres that can fit on my wheels and I have to say that it has worked for me.. : :D D
