tyre question, gsd3's

Postby gleem » Wed Jul 04, 2007 11:05 pm

Hey, does anyone here know much about the new GSD3's not that they are new just everyone in nz now gets them from china instead of Germany and i've heard the Chinese ones are not as good, all the tyre shops told me to get German made ones if you can which is proving difficult :S just wondering if anyone knows on here what the differences are

goodyear's quality control in china will be just as good as it was in germany, but will result in you getting the tyre for less money, just go with it man - who are we to stand in the way of slave labour?

I'll check with THASHZ. He knows all about that sort of stuff.
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

This is a toyota forum... that means 99% of the people that visit it drive toyotas... Which is a japanesse car!!!

Your saying that you refuse to put a chinesse made tyre on your car because of its origin... LOOK AT YOUR CAR for $&#$% sake.

I bet you the quality controls are the same. It'll all be made on an automated machine, and i'm sure programs don't discriminate via country.

I really can't give a damn where a tyre is made. They can be made by little children in Uganda for all I care.

BUT when I pay $440 for a tyre I expect the sucker to be a bleedn good tyre!!

I was under the impression that all the odd sized GSD 3s were made in Germany and the U.S.My 255/40/17s were made in the U.S and my 285/40/17s were made in Germany and I've heard of all the normal sizes ie 205,215,225.235 and so on were made in Aussie.

Best wet weather tyre bar non anyways I reckon and it is really competitively priced vs your bridgestones pirellis and other brands.

I'd be very surprised if the QC is the same, same procedure maybe but the line between pass and fail will be a bit fuzzy.

and as for automation, china make stuff cheap because they have so much cheap labour they do not need to invest in machinery, i.e some chinese guy probably trims all the excess material etc instead of a machine.

Besides they have so many black-outs in china you can't afford to rely solely on machines.

untill china start to respect the environment and patents (R&D is research and development NOT receive and duplicate) i say boycott

I had GridIII potenza's on my s14 and then i got gsd3's and tbh i preferred the gridIII's.... Little bit noisier but not as loose in the wet as the gsd3's.... but each to their own... plus i get cheap bridgies

Good work mr naive, if you told someone you had something made in Japan 50 odd years ago they would screw their face up, look at them now.

Yeap, Boycott China, I'm sure China's economic infrastructure of 14 BILLION people is gonna collapse because a country (namely New Zealand) of a measley 4 million people stop buying tires from them.

Last time I checked, New Zealand is begging China to trade with them, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
