Search club4ag forums if you want some proof (I CBF). She was talking about it over there a couple years back (andre's mrs, forget her name).
Because im bored here's some REAL rough figures for yaz, most should be on the high side:
Engine w/ loom - $1000 max
Hone, rings, bearings, gasket set, valves re-seated, metal h/g, longblock assembled - $2000
arp main, rod, head bolts - $500 max?
Good cambelt, tensioner, water pump, new harmonic balancer - $1000
Manifolds (chinese ex, custom in) - $1000 max
turbo - $1000
kelford cams - $600?
i/c + plumbing $1000
shit like oil, filters, thermostat, oil feed/return, rad hose etc - $1000
Link - $1000
Tune - $1000
20hrs@ $50 for assembling - $1000
------------------------
$12100
This is assuming you drive in/drive out and the workshop is pretty competant. 20hours for removing/installing an engine (not incl tune or block work or plumbing/manifold fab work) is pretty bloody generous - but i'd still say fair given it'd be pretty custom stuff and not completely simple. If you're half decent with a spanner for the removal/install and can tow the car between a fab shop, auto sparky, tune shop and home you'll save a bit.
Im finding it hard to believe so many people are doubting the ability of the ZE! A couple years ago we wouldnt even be having this 'discussion' lol - I think a few too many of you have been ripped off by workshops that just arent very good at what they do, now many of you seem to think nothing can be achieved without blowing rwanda's GDP. Professionalism and genuine expertise are too hard to come by these days, that really pisses me off. A workshop that really knows what they're doing shouldnt have any 'unforseen expenses' - too many people just bend over for this excuse.
Anyway im spent, and a bit boozed, gnite
